Frances A. Pennington was born on December I3, I932 in Horry County S.C. to the late George and Mary Anderson. She departed this life on June 4, 2024, peacefully at Conway Medical Center.
Frances Pennington was a lifelong resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C. where she attended Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church for more than 75 years. She was the first woman to be ordained as a minister at Sandy Grove, where she served and furthered her ministry training to achieve her doctorate of divinity from the Zion Bible Institute.
She was preceded in death by her three siblings, Lucille Hannah, Liz Ellen Anderson, and Coral Bell Cantee.
She leaves to cherish her memories of her four sons. Vardell Thompson of Patterson N.J., Cleaves Thompson of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Pastor George. M. Pennington of Conway, S.C. and Pastor Willie J. Pennington of Myrtle Beach S.C.; I7 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren 40 great-great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-great-grandchildren, and a whole host of nephews, nieces, great and great-great nieces, and nephews.
Her impact on many lives will be sorely missed by many in our community.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel.
