George Rutherford Swift, Jr. was born November 3, I950, in Charlottesville, VA (Albemarle County). He departed life on July I8, 2023, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madelyn H. Jones, father, George R. Swift, Sr., stepfather, Robert W. Jones, Sr., brother, Richard L. Swift, daughter, Crystal Y. Jordan and son, Dana N. Jordan Sr.

George was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and later retired from the City of Baltimore Law Enforcement. George received his Associate of Arts Degree from Community College of Baltimore in I979, his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in I982, and his Masters's Degree in Theology from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 2008. George became a faithful member at Sandy Grove Baptist Church and served as an Associate Pastor. George was known to many as a kind and giving person who cared for and helped those around him. George made it his business to do random acts of kindness regularly for people he did not know. George loved God, family & friends, to cook, entertain, and ride his motorcycle. George loved to serve Veterans and volunteered his services to assist those who served this country at the VA in Myrtle Beach. It was his dream to open an American Legion post in Myrtle Beach and the later part of 2022, he orchestrated a team who assisted him in making his dream a reality where he became the Commander of Post I96.
