Rhuetilla Smith Obituary

Ms. Rhuetilla Frazier Smith was the last baby born to the late Fred and Mahalia Frazier on February 19, 1930. She departed this life on the morning of March 4, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.

Rhuetilla graduated from Whittimore High School and Cosmetology school in New Jersey. She owned and operated beauty shops in Newark, NJ and in her home in Lancaster, PA. She was also formerly employed at the RCA and Shick plants in Lancaster, PA. Rhuetilla was a faithful member for years at the Bethel AME in Lancaster, PA where her pastor Rev. Bailey and friends loved her. She was a member of the choir, missionary society, pastor’s aid board, and played a vital part of the cast by the local productions at Bethel AME where she will be truly missed. After over 50 years in Lancaster, PA Rhuetilla’s health began to fail and she relocated back to her birth place where she continued to live with her daughter and grandson until her death.

Rhuetilla was preceded in death by all of her siblings. Fostener Ruthledge, Ruth Mccray, Ella Graham, Maggie Jane Russell, Rubylee Hughes, Eddie Frazier, Rupert Frazier, Arthur Frazier, and Allard Frazier.

Rhuetilla formerly was married to the late Abraham Jack Smith, from this union one child was born. Rhuetilla leaves behind to cherish her memories her devoted and loving daughter Melanie A. Smith and a one and only loving grandson Myles Smith-Farewell. In addition to her daughter Rhuetilla leaves her companion and care-giver Ruby V. Washington who remained a constant and devoted blessing to the family. Rhuetilla also leaves behind a few special nieces and nephews, a lifelong friend Sandy Simms, God children and special loved ones who cared for her like no one else. Those being Dina and Derick Burch, who took care of her needs while she was in Pennsylvania and continued to manage her property while she lived in South Carolina. For these special people words will never be enough to express my gratitude.
