“The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.” Psalms 23: 1-3. Robert Lee Wilson entered into eternal rest on March 23rd, 2026, at Grand Strand Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
Robert Lee Wilson was born in Horry County, South Carolina, on August 29, 1949, to the Late Mr. Douglas Sr. and Mrs. Oneita Wilson. He joined and was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Chestnut Consolidated High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army for several years. He worked as a cook in the hospitality industry at local businesses. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, dancing, cooking, cutting hair, gardening, and fixing cars. He was known by many nicknames, but his siblings called him “Professor”.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Douglas Sr. and Oneita Wilson; siblings, Earlene Wilson, Tammy ‘Sissy’ Turner, Hattie Lee Vereen, and Douglas ‘Buddy’ Wilson Jr.; and a special sister-in-law, Charlene Vereen.
Robert Lee was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Alice Wilson on April 16th, 1970. This union was blessed with Sabrina V. Wilson. Other Children in the home were the late Tracie Vereen, Dawn ‘Tonya’ Vereen, and Ebony Vereen.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Alice Wilson; his daughter, Sabrina Wilson; and his other children, Dawn ‘Tonya’ Vereen and Ebony Vereen; two granddaughters, Shaina Riggins (Boo) and Aubree Wilson (Moo); his siblings, Justine Lewis, Rebecca (Alex) Dunlap, Annie (Rev. Solon) Chestnut, Covel ‘Nick’ (Nanette) Wilson, Charlene Green, David ’Pat’ Wilson, Freddie (Ruth) Wilson, Bennie (Rosa) Wilson, and Melvin (Susanna) Wilson; his mother-In-law, Margaret Timmons; sister-in-law, Nora Jackson; and brother-in-law, Adam (Ruby) Livingston; best friend, James Earl Bellamy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, classmates, and friends.
