Roger Pierce Obituary

On early Sunday morning, January 24th, 2021, Father God so fit to enter brother Roger into eternal glory. Roger entered into his rest at one of his nieces’ (Sherry Goodman’s) home in Aynor, SC.

Roger was the living, 7th child of the late Leo Howard Pierce Sr., and the late Elizabeth Jackson Pierce.

He was born on August 29th, 1961 in Marlboro County. He attended different churches, but finally became a member at Grace Baptist Church in Aynor. He attended all the required schools while living in Aynor. Roger was employed many years at various companies until his health started to decline.

Roger was a very loving and kind man to everyone whom he developed a relationship with. He had some unique qualities about himself that was attached to his name, and he acquired a few nicknames on his earthly journey, as well: Murdock and Roger Dodger. He especially loved Gospel music and enjoyed singing along to the old hymns of his youth. He was a man who would show his love however way he saw needed. His heart was full of love, joy, peace, and laughter, along with the wisdom gained along the way. Roger will be unforgotten, terribly missed, and forever loved, always in our hearts and yours. One particular song that he often sung was “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.” Our hearts are just that—BROKEN.

He is preceded in death by two brothers: Leo Howard Pierce Jr., and Joseph Alonzo Lee Pierce.

Roger is survived (left in mourning) by his four children: Roger Gause (Tramaine-Conway) SC., Demeeka Pierce/Thomas Jakes, Kendell Pierce, of Aynor SC, and Shanquilla Pierce/Andrew Harness of Mullins SC.

He has a total of six grandchildren and seven remaining siblings: James Truman/Sarah Pierce of Aynor, Rose Marie Roberts of Aynor, Hazel/Sammy Gee of Aynor, Nelline Pearl/George Holmes of Aynor, Melvin Lee/Katherine Pierce of Aynor, Jessie Lee Glenn/Adam Hout of Daytona Beach, FL., and Robert Lee Pierce/Edward Hough of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Another sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dixon Pierce of Latta, SC, a deceased sister-in-law (Bonnie Pierce).

Roger has three loving aunts: Ida McKiver of Marion SC, Evangelist Barbara McCrae, and Evangelist Sarah Simmons both of Bennettsville SC.

He has a generational host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and made special friends everywhere he went.

Two special, caring friends: Liz Crawford of Latta SC, and Ann Smith of Conway, SC.

Roger K. Pierce, we all love you, and we all miss you, but our memories together will remain whenever we think of you. Rest on beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Our “refuge, comfort, and strength come from the Lord. We lift up our eyes to the hills where our help come from” (Psalms 46:1-3—Psalms 121 1).
