Ronnie LeRussell Alston

Ronnie Alston of Myrtle Beach passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. 

Ronnie LeRussell Alston was born on October 2, 1951 in Conway, SC to Ms. Beatrice Alston Shipman. He departed this life peacefully at his home on April 23, 2024. Ronnie was raised in. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina by his grandmother, Lillie Alston Short.

Ronnie was educated. in Beaufort, SC at the Mather School and completed his education in Washington, DC. After graduating he was employed at DC General Hospital, Washington, DC. A few years later he decided to move his family back home to Myrtle Beach where he worked security at Waccamaw Pottery. He was later employed with Pathmark Warehouse in New Jersey from 2000-2011.

Ronnie enjoyed fishing on the Myrtle Beach Pier. However, his passion was training dogs. He was affectionately called "Dog Man". Some may have referred to him as the "dog whisperer". Many described Ronnie as just a cool guy. His charisma drew many friends, as they described Ronnie as kind, loving, and. funny. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He loved. to drive. Often you could find him in Myrtle Beach driving around to pick up, drop off, or run errands for those in the community.

Ronnie leaves to cherish his devoted mother, Mrs. Beatrice Shipman; a loving daughter, Keisha L. Alston of Charlotte, NC; two siblings, Timika Shipman of Myrtle Beach, SC and Marquise Shipman of Newark, New Jersey; one niece, Vanessa D. Smalls of Monks Corner, SC; and one nephew, Shephard Holmes of Killeen, Texas; special friends, Ervin Green, Ann Anderson, Sid Walters, Tommy Wiggins, Frank Burgess, Roy Chestnut, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel is assisting the Alston Family.
