Roosevelt "Sonny" Graham was born on August 1o, 1937, in Bucksport, SC, to the late Lee Graham and Deanie Hewitt graham. Roosevelt was raised and attended schools in the Bucksport community.
Roosevelt enrolled in the United State Army in 1955 and after serving his country he relocated to Hackensack, NJ, with his uncle Norman Hewitt, who taught him a great deal about living up north and working hard.
After serving in the armed forces, Roosevelt moved once again to Hackensack, NJ, to start a life in the north. In Hackensack, he met and married the love of his life Ernestine Watford graham; they were married on February 20, 1965, and blessed with two children.
Roosevelt worked at plywood wholesalers in Lodi, NJ, for years. He also was employed by NJ transit as a bus driver and retired in 2003. After retiring he relocated to Little River, SC, with his wife and son.
Roosevelt loved being around people, watching sports, playing cards, and catching up with his longtime friends and family. Roosevelt always encouraged others to do their best.
Roosevelt was a member of the American Legion in Little River, SC.
Roosevelt is pre-deceased by his father, Lee Graham, mother Deanie Hewitt Graham, brothers Leo, Robert, and Darney (Buster), and sisters, Jeanette, Margaret, Emily, Lueelle.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 57 years, Ernestine, who lovingly cared for him in their home. A daughter Natalie Graham and a son, Roosevelt Graham Jr. Along with sister-in-law Clara Graham of Bucksport, SC (Darney), brother-in-law Willie Rawls (Jeanette) Chesapeake, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends who will miss him dearly.
Roosevelt Graham of Little River passed away on November 23, 2022. There will be a viewing held Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at St Paul AME Church Cemetery in Little River.
