Roosevelt Skinner, Jr. passed away on March 5, 2023.
Roosevelt Skinner Jr. was born to the late Roosevelt Skinner Sr. and Laura
Skinner in Conway, SC on December 9, 1964. He attended Horry County
Public Schools and later joined the US Air Force in 1986.
After transitioning to civilian life Roosevelt began his employment with Santee Cooper in November 1989 until his retirement in August 2019.
Roosevelt received his Associate's Degree in Information Technology from Horry-Georgetown Technical College in May 2015 and Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from Limestone College in December 2017. Roosevelt was employed at the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs in Largo, FL as an IT Specialist.
Roosevelt was a natural art creator known as “Earth Arts by Roose”. He loved working with plants and the earth, a gift he received from his Mom.
Roosevelt was a soft-hearted, soft-spoken kind spirit, who worshipped faithfully at Mason Temple COGIC. He loved chauffeuring his church family around to CH District Meetings and Fellowship Conferences.
Roosevelt spent his final years in Tampa, Florida where he peacefully departed this life on March 5, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his father Roosevelt Skinner, Sr. He leaves to mourn his memories his mother, Laura Skinner, his wife Janice Skinner, his daughters Ilisha Skinner, Chasity (John) Young and Courtney Gathers, his brother Keith (Narissia) Skinner Sr., his sisters Evelyn Wright, Odessa (Robert) Simmons, Rolaetta Alford, his grandchildren Israel Young, Jeremy Williams, Jr., Geneva Williams, Miles Williams, Khalid Williams and his godchild Jonas Banks-Coutain.
He also leaves to cherish his memories his nephews and nieces, Shaunette (Kenneth) Gathers, Torillo Flores, William Wright Jr., Myron Vereen, Maurice Vereen, Micah Vereen, Michael Alford, Maalik Alford, Lakeedia Skinner, Keith Skinner, Jr, Khalid Skinner, Montel Gause, Keishon Skinner, along with a host great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His favorite Deacon Theophilus (Sherry) Coutain (family) and Mother Wilhelmina Scott.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Mason Temple Church of God in Christ. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
