Sadie Jane Johnson

Mrs. Sadie Jane Huffman Johnson was born to the late John and Gracie Godbolt Huffman on May 3, 1936 in Bayboro, South Carolina in Horry County. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Westgate Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Baltimore, MD following an illness. She was affectionally known to her family as “Big Momma.” 

Sadie was united in holy matrimony to the late Rudolph Johnson on August 23, 1955; to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin daughter Priscilla Johnson, two sons Dennis and Randolph Johnson, a granddaughter Nyatiaha Faltz, a great grandson Grantley Herbert, 7 sisters, and 5 brothers.

Sadie attended school at Aynor (Allen) School and Whittemore High School in Conway, SC. She furthered her education and graduated Carver Vocational Night School in Baltimore, MD receiving her nursing aide certification. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant at Key Circle Hospice for 30 years until retirement.

Sadie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Aynor, SC. Upon moving to Baltimore, MD she joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where she served diligently on the Willing Worker Committee until moving back to South Carolina in 2003. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star with Jerusalem Temple #4. She renewed her membership at St. Elizabeth and attended as much as she could until her health declined.

Sadie leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories…. Two loving and devoted daughters: Rudell Faltz of Parkdale, MD and Patricia Johnson of Baltimore, MD; Seven Grandchildren: Tyaisha, Rudy, Patrice, Rasshan, Chekee, Randolph Jr., and Akia. Seven great-grandchildren and Three great great-grandchildren all of Baltimore, MD. One sister: Maebell Bird (Lafayette) of Willingboro, NJ; Four sisters-in-law: Sarah Mae Huffman, Carolyn Johnson, Emma Garrison, and Annette Moody; Two brothers-in-law: Wilber Vereen and Abraham Jenkins; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sadie Jane Johnson, formerly of Aynor, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in Baltimore.  There will be a graveside service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 1, 2021 at Tower of Prayer Cemetery on 1449 Gum St. in Aynor, S.C.  Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation service Conway Chapel will be assisting this family.
