Sallie Brown

Sallie Louise Brown Sparkman was born in Bucksport, SC on August 8, 1947, to the late Ezekel Horace Brown and Sally Lee McCray Brown. Sallie was educated in the public schools of Horry County at Bucksport Elementary in Bucksport, SC. She received a High School diploma from Whittemore High School in the year 1965 in Conway, SC. She later received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Horry Georgetown Technical College in Conway, SC. Sallie was employed for Ocean Dunes Resort for approximately twenty years as a laundry room supervisor in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sallie accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor John Keel. While attending Jerusalem Baptist Church, she enjoyed singing in the Jerusalem Baptist Church Junior Choir under the leadership director hip of the choir director, the late Leevy Williams.

As she pursued and fainted not in her walk with Christ being a “Woman of Faith”, she became a member of St. John Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Hemingway, SC under the leadership of the late Bishop B.F. Graham. While being a part of this ministry she was a devout and dedicated member, Later she was directed to join and Praise and Conquer Holiness Church in Bucksport, SC under the leadership of Apostle Terry Lee Powers. She enjoyed partaking in and participating in this ministry.

For the last five years of her earthly life she “planted her feet,” at Showers of Blessings in Georgetown, SC under the leadership of the late Bishop James Anthony Orr in Georgetown, SC.

November 30, 1996, Sallie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Gene Sparkman for twenty-four years.

On October 6, 2021, Sallie departed this earthly life at her residence in the Toddville Community. She leaves to cherish her memories to a loving and devoted husband; four daughters; Stephanie Michelle (Eric) Sessions of Marion, SC; Vanessa Louise (Harold) Stewart of Conway, SC; Keyra Sparkman, of North Myrtle Beach, SC; six sons; Ervin Sparkman of Marion, SC,; Gene Anthony of Little River SC; Gene Sparkman Jr,. of Burgess, SC; Chris Sparkman of Murrells Inlet, SC; Marvin Sparkman of Va.; and Corey Sparkman of Little River, SC; twenty-two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven sisters; Mary (Dot) Porcher, Lillian Albertha Benniken of Moncks Corner, SC; Margaret V. Johnson of Conway, SC; Willa (Vorce) Dease, of Georgetown, SC; Jacqueline P (William) Rivers of Goose Creek, SC; Vonzella Denise Stafford, of Conway, SC; two brothers Robert Leon Brown of Conway, SC; Charles (Denise) Brown of Philadelphia PA.; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

Sallie Brown of Conway passed on October 6, 2021. A viewing will be held Monday, October 11, 2021, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Mason Temple COGIC in Conway. Burial will follow at Owens Cemetery in Bucksport.
