Sammy Lee Huffman

Sammy Lee Huffman of Conway passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023.  

Sammy Lee Huffman affectionately known as "Sammy Lee" born August 24, I962, son of the late Leo and Sarah Mae Grayer Huffman departed this life on August 7, 2023. He was raised in Aynor and educated in the Horry County Public Schools. Following in his father's footsteps at a young age, he perfected the skill of Brick Masonry traveling across the East Coast using that skill to build many different dreams. If he wasn't holding the trade with his father and brothers, he could be found pulling a prank on any of his nine unsuspecting siblings. Although a little strong-willed he was a very good big brother who could be found taking very good care of his younger siblings. Often times he would be found chopping wood, building fires, bathing his younger siblings, and doing any other chores that needed to be done.

Sammy Lee enjoyed reading, collecting comic books, drawing, fishing, and taking care of animals.

As a man, his role as the oldest son he took very seriously after the passing of his father; stepping up to the plate and making the difficult years ahead an easier transition for the entire family. Sammy Lee was a very humble and forgiving person who did not hold grudges. Sammy's walk with Christ was a personal journey that was his and his alone.

In I996 after 6 years of dating, he married the love of his life Mrs. Lenise "Barbara" Huffman. "Fred" as he fondly called her was a very loving, devoted, and supportive wife until the end. To this union two very large and loving families were combined as one; The Bryant-Huffman family.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Maverick Huffman and Bishop Don E Huffman; one sister-in-law, Sandra J. Huffman and two brothers-in-law, Donald L. Hazel and Allen F. White.

He leaves to cherish a loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Sarah Mae Huffman; one son, San-MeGale (Talyssa) Huffman; three grandchildren, San-MeGale Jr., Sa-Veonna, and Serenity; two step-sons, Raymond (Beverly) Bryant and Rodney (Tameka) Bryant; three step-daughters, Sherry (Brian) Brunson, Tara (Levi) Woodard and Sabrina Bennett; two bonus children, Jodi (Felicia) Johnson, and Teresa Johnson. He has IS step-grandchildren which he loved; nine siblings, Leola Huffinan, Hazel, (John Lee) Huffinan, Debra Huffman-White, Sarah Huffman (Donald Gerald), Nysha T. Huffman, Loleaha (George) Black, and Elijah L. Huffman; three sisters-in-law, Lorrie Huffman, Cindy Booth, and Myrtle Watts; two brothers-in-law, Roger (Connie) Bryant and Levon (Janice) Bryant, along with a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. He had a special love for Carter Johnson, his best friend Michael "Mike" Fore, and three faithful employers, Eddie James, Collins Gore, and John Henry.

May his legacy of building love one brick at a time continue with his family, friends, and love ones.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at St. John Freewill Baptist Church.  There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, August 11, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.

The family will be receiving friends from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Monday, August 8, 2023, through Friday, August 12, 2023, at 325 Browns Chapel Ave Conway SC 29527.
