Samuel Brinkley Chestnut, "Brian" as he was affectionately known was born on January 26, I972 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Elijah and Joanne Chestnut. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
He grew up in the Racepath Community of Myrtle Beach. He attended the Myrtle Beach area schools and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in I990. Brian was in the hospitality industry starting in high school. He worked at Swamp Fox Motor Inn and Towers where he was a Bellman and later worked as a Bathroom Valet at Broadway at the Beach where he was known as "Mr. Broadway" for nearly 20 years until his death.
Brian was a people person and never met a stranger. People were drawn to him for his infectious laughter, comical jokes, his big heart, and loving nature. He was passionate about cooking and sports. You could often see him cooking meals for friends and family in the Racepath Community and for his Broadway family. Brian was an avid fan of the New York Mets, the University of North Carolina Tarheels, and the Philadelphia Eagles. We thought we'd never hear the end of it when the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 20I8. He was devoted to his family and especially to his son, Riley. He made sure Riley had everything he ever needed and asked for but also made sure he was raised to have manners and show respect. Usually, wherever you saw Riley you would see Brian; they were each other's best friends.
His gracious spirit will be cherished and missed by his beloved son, Riley Rabon of Conway, SC; his parents, Elijah and Joanne Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, SC; his four brothers, Earl Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronald Chestnut (Maureen) of Washington, D.C, Marvin Chestnut (Jonetta) of Ellerslie, Georgia, and Shariff Bellamy of Charleston, SC; his two sisters Tara Burgess (Timothy) and April Chestnut of Myrtle Beach, SC; his four uncles, Jesse Chestnut (Jeanette) of Troy, NY, Joe Wineglass (Joan), Benjamin Wineglass of Georgetown, SC, and Samuel Gardner of Conway, SC; his five aunts Carrie Cole of Miami, Fl, Betty Chestnut (Woodrow), Bessie Rush (Leroy) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Maggie Smith (Levi), and Eva Mae Gasque (Dan) of Georgetown, SC; as well as one great uncle, six great aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. There will be a viewing one hour before the service. Interment will follow in Pine Island Community Cemetery. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel is Assisting the Chestnut Family.
