Mr. Samuel Jackson Vereen, the son of the late Mr. Richard and Mrs. Carrie Bryant Vereen, was born May 17, 1927. He departed this life on August 31, 2022, at Conway Medical Center, Conway, South Carolina, following an illness.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Chesterfield Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Samuel attended public schools of Horry County and upon graduation he joined the Army of the United States. He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Upon completing his tours of duty, he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Vereen received a Bachelor of Science from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Education, and Master of Education degree from Wayne State University, in Detroit, Michigan.
Mr. Vereen received additional certifications by Detroit Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors for thirty-six years of dedicated service.
He leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, other sorrowing relatives, and friends.
Samuel J. Vereen of the Popular community passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. There will be a funeral service held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Full Gospel Church in Longs, SC. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Florence National Cemetery. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel will be assisting this family.
