Shametree Lashell Lee was born on October 28, 1979, in Marion, South Carolina, to Patricia Montgomery and Charles Lee. On December 24, 2025, Shametree’s name was removed from the book of life to rest in eternal peace.
She was educated in the public schools of Horry County graduating from Green Sea Floyds High School in 1998. After high school, she furthered her education, earning an Interdisciplinary Degree from Coastal Carolina University, a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Coker College, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Walden University. Shametree’s employment history was centered around assisting and serving others at Grand Strand Medical Center as a social worker, Steven’s Outreach as a community service specialist, and Pee Dee Mental Health-Children Services in Marion County Schools.
Although work was a very important part of her life, family was everything to her. She loved her grandbabies more than they could ever imagine. Shametree enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as crafting, cooking, baking, singing, fixing things, making people laugh, and giving advice. Her interests also included watching the Madea plays and movies and watching Scooby Doo cartoons. Listening to music artists Lauren Hill “To Zion”, Lyfe Jennings, Pearls of Faith, Tamela Mann, Tasha Cobbs, Jekalyn Carr, Kirk Franklin, and all things gospel were a part of her everyday life.
Sadly, her father, Henry Charles Lee; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Jannie Bell Miller; and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Reatha Lee all preceded her in death but were waiting with open arms to hold her close. Although her family will grieve the loss of her presence in their lives, she will forever live on in the hearts of her mother, Patricia Montgomery of Marion, South Carolina; her children, Jaylin TyKiah Emoni Grant, and Jhamari Bryson Grant; her grandchildren, Braylin Hendrixx Lee Bethea and Kai’Lani Janel Bernice Davis; her sister, Jamie (Frank) Melvin; her brothers, Andre (Loretta) Miller, Henry (Sherri) Staley, and Brent (Olivia) Oliver; her nieces, Isis Melvin, Jasmine (David) Strong, and Alonna Melvin; her nephews, Andre (Ania) Miller, Sean (Jocelyn) Staley, and Kayden Melvin; a special cousin, Dana Miller; a godson, Brandon Oliver; special friend, Davon Furnace; her stepsisters, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
