Shelia T. Rutledge passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Conway Medical Center.
Without warning, an angel plucked a flower from our garden on Sunday, October IS, 2023, and Shelia Teresa Rutledge was called from earth to heaven for reward.
Shelia T. Rutledge was born on June I3, I962 in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Rutledge and Geraldine Scott Rutledge. Shelia grew up in the Burgess Community of Surfside Beach. Her secular education was received in the public schools of Horry County where she attended Myrtle Beach High School and Socastee High School. Shelia moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in I979 and furthered her education there by attending Job Corp. Shelia was a believer in the Lord and accepted Him as Lord and Savior in her life at a young age, being baptized at St. James United Methodist (now known as The Brook) in the Burgess Community. Shelia returned from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and relocated back to South Carolina in I98I. Shelia relocated to Miami, Florida in I993. She returned to Horry County in I997 where she lived until God called her home.
Shelia was a quiet-spirited person who was kind and considerate of others. Shelia always kept a smile on her face. She was a loving and devoted mother, exceptional grandmother, wonderful sister, and kind aunt and friend to all she encountered. Shelia never met a stranger. Shelia was employed with Conway Hospital (now known as Conway Medical Center) where she worked in Environmental Services.
One brother, Willie Aiken preceded her in death.
The suddenness of her passing leaves a felt emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Among these are three beloved children, Nickquiltetay S. Rutledge, Sheena S. Rutledge, and Keiouna S. Law all Of Conway, South Carolina; grandchildren, Keion Gillard, Samon Durant, Lyric Gause, Kaylynn Gause, and Baby Durant all of Conway, South Carolina; her siblings, Sandra (Rena) Rutledge of Conway, South Carolina, Lucille Aiken, Sharon (Jamal) Rutledge, Gerald Rutledge, Rachael Rutledge, Sylvester Rutledge, and Phillip (Man) Rutledge all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Three aunts and one uncle, Lou Ellen Scott of Bronx, New York, Angeline McNeil of Conway, South Carolina, Sadie Bell Parmley of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, and Earl L.
