Sonia Tomlin, 65, of Little River, South Carolina, returned to the arms of the Lord on the afternoon of March 30th, 2026. While this loss is deep and profound, we find comfort in celebrating her life and service to the Lord, her family, and the people she loved. Sonia was born on August 13, 1960, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to the late Edward Myers Jr. and Stella Myers. It was there that she spent her early years. She and her family moved to Boston, Massachusetts, at a young age; she spent her school years there and graduated from English High School in 1978. Sonia went on to work as a Family Planning Counselor at Codman Square Health Center in Dorchester, Massachusetts, for many years, and spent much of her free time at Grace Community Church, where she served in many roles, with some of her fondest memories coming from her time in the church choir.
Sonia went on to marry Dwight Tomlin, Sr., and had two children, Chynnah and Dwight. She spent most of her married years as a devoted military wife and mother. She loved the Lord and stayed involved in church everywhere that her family was stationed, serving as a Sunday School teacher, caterer, altar worker, choir member, and more. She was ordained as a Minister in 2000 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church in San Diego, California, shortly after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education in Christian Counseling from the International Apostolic University of Grace and Truth. She later answered the call to the office of Pastor at New Beginnings Apostolic Faith Ministries in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 2003.
After moving to Sicily, Italy, she stepped into her calling to found God Will Deliver Ministries alongside her husband. Starting in the living room of their home, the ministry quickly grew as she cultivated a teaching atmosphere and enjoyed sharing Christian literature and curating intimate events for the Women’s Ministry. Her impact in ministry is still felt to this day.
Outside of ministry, Sonia had a lot of talents and interests that she enjoyed sharing with others. She was heavily involved with volunteering at her children’s schools in their early years. Her love for her children was unmatched, and she worked to instill the love of learning with trips to the library. She loved interior decorating and spent a lot of time picking out pieces that would make a house a home, even expanding her talents to a gift basket business for a time. Cooking was her true joy. She loved cooking and baking for her family and others. Her blueberry muffins, spaghetti, and famous cinnamon rolls left fond memories for all, and she loved presenting her food well. She loved to laugh and could find joy in any situation, sharing laughter with everyone she knew. She also loved singing and music and considered herself an honorary Clark sister.
Sonia is survived by her husband, Dwight Tomlin, Sr., her two children, Chynnah and Dre Tomlin; her sister, Patricia White; her aunt, Fanny Smith; her uncle, Bennie Myers, and his wife Cheryl; her cherished church family from True Way Holiness Church, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Felicia Myers and Diane Myers.
