Thelma B. Williams

January 19, 1950 ~ March 6, 2022 (age 72)

Sunrise January 19, 1950 ~ Sunset March 6, 2022 On March 6, 2022, God saw her getting tired so he wrapped her in His loving arms and whispered “come with me.”

Thelma B. Williams, affectionately known to many as “Donnie” was the daughter of the late Louis J. Bland Sr. and Carrie B. Spivey, was born January 19, 1950 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Donnie attended and graduated from Whittemore High School of Conway, SC.  Donnie was employed at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club for 34 years until she retired in July 2017.  She was also the family and community seamstress keeping us all looking professional and fashionable.  After retirement she enjoyed her favorite past time of sitting on her porch talking to friends and looking after close neighbors.

She joined and was baptized at an early age at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member and where she fellowshipped with family and friends.  She also was a member of the usher board in her early years.

On January 28th of 1970 she was united in holy matrimony to Lionel J. Williams who preceded her death in 1997.

“Donnie’s” family will always remember her infectious laughter, smile and full character who many will never forget.  Although Thelma loved her friends as family, she leaves behind a family who will cherish her most intimate journey and milestones- A daughter Tosha (Steven) Ricks of Severn, MD, adopted daughter Angel (Terry) McDuffie of Columbia, SC.  Three grandchildren:  Kinsten and Khloe Ricks of Severn, MD and Jerod Grier, of Detroit, MI.  Seven sisters:  Carin Chestnut of Durham, NC, Gail Bigelow, Jennifer Cox, Precious Cox, Thenell Cox of Myrtle Beach, SC, Orvella Estwick of Bronx, NY and Sandra Spivey of Brooklyn, NY.  Four brothers:  Gene (Myra) Spivey of Richmond, VA, Jimmy Cox of Wilmington, NC, Quandous Best of Aynor, SC, and Steve (Sarah-Ann) Livingston of Little River, SC.  A sister-in-law:  Beulah Bland of Myrtle Beach, SC.  One Aunt:  Mazie (Jerome) Anderson of Little River, SC.  And she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Six siblings preceded her in death:  Louis Bland Jr., Ronetta Bowens, Roosevelt Spivey Jr., Wendell Spivey, Otis Spivey and Barbara Spivey.
