Obituary

Thomas Earl Davis of the Pee Dee Community of Hemingway passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023. 

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Mr. Thomas Earl Davis was born on May 29, 1942, to Noah Davis, Sr. and Elease Sumpter Davis in the Pee Dee Community of Hemingway, South Carolina. Thomas graduated from Choppee High School in 1961 and was a member of Sandhill United American Freewill Baptist Church in the Pee Dee Community. In his early years in church, Thomas served as a Sunday School Teacher and the Chairman of the Trustee Board. Thomas was also one of the Founding Fathers of the Pee Dee Community Project in which he was heavily involved in the upbuilding of the Pee Dee Community; spearheading the first community project. Thomas worked at Georgetown Mill Supply for 22 years as a Hydraulic Hose Engineer. He was a Life Insurance Agent for 20 years and owned and operated Davis Enterprise for 25 years. Thomas's true passion was being the owner and operator of his family farm for 54 years.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, our beloved Thomas departed this life at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Aaron Davis, John S. Davis, James Davis (Esterlean), Isaac Lester Davis (Linda), William Davis, and Noah Davis, Jr; one stepson, William "Amp" Murphy. He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife of 30 years, Mary Alice Davis; three daughters, Littlien Davis, Lupeachra Davis, and Denise Renee Davis; one son, Javone Jackson (Latesha); three stepsons, Nelson Bethea, Willie Bethea, and Charles Murphy; one stepdaughter, CoSandra Murphy; six grandchildren, LaEricka Davis, Majestic McFadden, James McFadden, Javon Jackson Jr, Wesley Walker Jr., and Justin Walker; six great-grandchildren, Jaheim Greene, Gregory Mitchell, III, Nova Scott, James McFadden, III, Madden Jackson, and Gia Jackson; seventeen step-grandchildren; one brother, Bishop Donald Davis (Julia); one sister, Cindy Willis (Jimmie); three sisters-in-law, Nancy Davis, Susie Davis, Gallen Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 17, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.  There will be a viewing from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2023, at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel.
