Timothy “Tim” / ”TR” Brant Rardin, age 78, died on July 10, 2024, at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina, from complications of diabetes. (He would’ve wanted you to know that he was 76 last year! …)
He was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1946, to Ruth “Ref” and Jared “Jed” Rardin, the third of their four children. After his father died and his mother remarried, their blended family included stepfather, Beverly “Bev” Horr, and nine children. He graduated in 1964 from Portsmouth High School, and in 1968 from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
He married his college girlfriend, Peyton “PD”, and they lived for many years in a wonderful old home in Marysville, Ohio, raising their two children. His professional career began at O.M. Scott & Sons, but went on to include a wide variety of work in marketing, sales, and real estate.
In 1993 he moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and there enjoyed a successful real estate career until his retirement. He relocated to South Carolina in 2022, maintaining his longtime connection to the beach and the ocean. Long Beach Island, Barbados, and Saint Martin/Sint Maarten were favorite vacation spots over the years.
Ever the mischievous spirit, he took great pride in going against the flow. He loved to have a good time. He was famous for his antics, pranks, and gag gifts. He had a keen intellect, sharp wit, and playful sense of humor. He was always up for a game of backgammon and was an avid tennis player until knee and hip injuries slowed him down.
Among his favorite expressions: “There’s nothing common about common sense.”
He is survived by Lisa and John Hofmeister, Tim “Stu” and Amy Emmett-Rardin, and grandchildren, Anne Peyton, Tommy, and Gabe; by his first wife, Peyton Rardin; by his longtime partner, Lori London, as well as his “adopted” daughters, Maria Pridgen, Diana London, and Ashley London, and grandchildren, Savannah and Dakota; by his adoring dogs Sandy, Tucker and Chase; and by his siblings, Dave Horr, Ellen Stoup, Alice Barnett, and Molly Tee, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Kay Chesson, and his siblings Bill Horr, John Horr, Sara Johnson, and Jerry Rardin.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. Condolences, tributes, memories, and photos can be shared at kudoboard.com/boards/QJOpWaKB. The board was originally created for his 75th birthday, but additional contributions are encouraged.
Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel is assisting the Rardin Family.
