Vera Lee Pickett

Vera Lee Pickett, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 9th, 2023 at the age of 68. Vera was born on April 7th, 1955 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Lillian J Pickett, who has since passed away.

Vera attended Carver Elementary and Myrtle Beach High Schools in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She worked in the food service and hospitality service industries in the city of Myrtle Beach. Vera was a hardworking woman who never met a stranger at any business she worked at.

Vera's sister Juanita Pickett departed ahead of her in the early 1990s and her granddaughter Kiera Pickett departed in 2021.

Vera leaves behind her five children, Latonya Pickett, Julia Nicole Pickett, Laquinta Mason, Dorel Pickett, and Nakeia Pickett, who will miss her deeply but will carry on her memories; she leaves her brother Henry Pickett; sisters Bonita Pickett and Mary Alice Myers; additionally she leaves behind seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and a village of adopted nieces and nephews.

Vera had a special love for Myrtle Beach, but her love for her family and friends surpassed any affection she had for her hometown. She was a kind and loving person who always put her family first. Vera's memory will live on through the love she shared with those closest to her.

There will be a viewing held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Myrtle Beach Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery.
