“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” 2 Corinthians 5:1 (NIV)
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Vinnetta Carol Johnson, a woman whose presence lit every room and whose laughter could turn an ordinary moment into a cherished memory. Born on November 25, 1969, in Conway, South Carolina, to the late Frank and Jennean Johnson, Vinnetta was a gift to all who knew her. She grew up surrounded by family and faith. Vinetta accepted Christ at an early age and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Vinnetta was educated in the Horry County public school system and proudly graduated from Conway High School, Class of 1988. She later pursued her passion for beauty and creativity at the Chris Logan School of Cosmetology, completing her program in 1990. For 24 years, she served her community as a licensed cosmetologist, blessing countless clients with her skilled hands, warm conversation, and unmistakable style. Her journey in the profession began at Barbara's Beauty Shop on Wrights Boulevard and continued at Minnie's Beauty Salon, where she worked faithfully until 2013.
Beyond her work, Vinnetta lived a life filled with joy. Friday nights often found her surrounded by laughter, good music, and the comfort of blue crabs shared among girlfriends. She loved the soulful sounds of Tru Soul, cherished good times, and embraced every moment with contagious energy. Known for her sharp fashion sense and her signature purple lipstick, she was truly the life of the party. She was bold, beautiful, and unforgettable.
Vinnetta was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister JoAnn White.
She leaves to celebrate her legacy and carry her love forward, her devoted son and pride of her heart, Chase Tre’von Longs of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also lovingly remembered by six sisters, Coleen Chapman of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Joyce (John) McCray of Conway, South Carolina, Elizabeth (Michael) Johnson of Lancaster, South Carolina, Jacqueline (Anthony) Hooks of Darlington, South Carolina, Franchella (Andy) Jordan of Conway, South Carolina, and Frances (William) Parrish of Conway, South Carolina. She also leaves behind one brother, Jonathan (Rosa) Nichols of Conway, South Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, a beloved goddaughter, Courtney Robinson, one godson, Jamus McCray, extended family members, and countless friends who will forever cherish the joy she brought into their lives.
Although Vinnetta has departed this earthly life, her laughter, her love, and her unforgettable sparkle will continue to live in our hearts. Her legacy is one of joy, resilience, and radiant spirit. She reminds us all to live life fully, love deeply, and laugh often.
