Wilber Gene Green, Sr. was born on February 14, 1938, to the late Annie Green and the late Louis Marlow.
Wilber attended Union School. Spending many early mornings gathering at Hardee’s for breakfast with the guys. Sharply witted, letting his thoughts be known, but also have a sense of humor to lighten the heart. He loved doing his “Seek and Find” word book.
Wilber demonstrated unwavering dedication to his family, showing a special fondness for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wilber was a man of great faith and witnessed his faith in God daily. He accepted Christ and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was an Usher and Yard Marshall. He also assisted with paving the church parking lot. Wilber worked for W.J. McLamb for over 30 years until he retired. He then returned to work and was employed at Chucks Construction for 5 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Green; one daughter, Annie Green; one son, Wilber Green, Jr.; his brothers, Eddie and Joseph Green; and three grandchildren, Raymond Marlow, Anthony Grissett, and Raqun Green.
Wilber’s life and memories are survived, cherished, and loved by his daughters, Willa (Alfred) Marlowe of Thomasboro, NC, Rosa (Curtis) Green of Columbia, SC, and Dora (Vince) Green of Durham, NC; his sons, Gilbert (Stephanie) Green of Calabash, NC and Raymond (Anthony) Green of Longwood, NC; his sisters, Mary Stanley, Elizabeth Relford, Lina Johnson, all of Calabash, NC, and Geneva Davis of FL; his brother, Noah (Emma) Green of Longs, SC; his son-in-law, Willie Joe Grissett; a special daughter-in-law, Anthanet Green; 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Annie Vereen, Estelle Wilson, Rosa Pearl Grissett, and Everlina Green; brother-in-law, Charlie (Ada) Marlowe; special friends, LC Hill, Curtis Johnson, Charlie Ray Vaught, Rev. William Henry Vereen, and Jason and Tulsa Scott who lived across the street. He is also survived, cherished, and loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
