Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalms 37:4
Mrs. Willia Mae Dixon-Simmons, affectionately known as Butch, was the daughter of the late William (Buddy) and Bertha (Muh) Parker, born on February 22, 1953. She departed this life peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was the sister of Ulave, Frances Lee, Barleen, and William Jr. (Janice). She was a bold child of God, a mother, friend, confidant, and strong pillar in the community who left an indelible mark on all.
Willia Mae attended Whittemore Elementary and completed her education at Harding High School after relocating to Bridgeport, CT. She began her journey with the Lord at an early age and became a proud member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church on April 1, 2022, continuing the legacy of her parents. She joined the Oak Grove Choir, where she was able to share one of her many jewels, singing.
Her love and affection for people allowed her to find her kindred spirit, Larry Simmons. They joined together in holy matrimony on June 5, 2023. Their families became blended, bonds were formed, and love was shared. She was very passionate about sharing her wisdom and helping others. She showed compassion to anyone she encountered. Our mother supported the rich and the poor, closed her doors to no one. In simple terms, to understand our mother was to cherish her.
Willia Mae is preceded in death by her parents, William and Bertha; and her son, Bobby Lee Dixon.
She leaves a legacy of unconditional love to her husband, Larry Simmons of Conway, SC; six daughters, Lasheryl (George) Riley of Stratford, CT, Ulave (Jemelle) Cabrera Pooler of GA, Alicia Dixon, Miranda Dixon, Jasmine Dixon of Conway, SC and Precious Dixon of NYC; one son, Messiah “Peewee” Dixon of Conway, SC; 6 stepchildren, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Ulave, Frances Lee, and Barleen; one brother, William Jr. (Janice); four aunts, one uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
