Willie Green, Jr. was born on June 29, 1956, in Bucksport, SC, to the late Deacon Willie Green, Sr. and the late Frances Ann Huggins Green. God called him home on February 17, 2026, following an illness. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Rodney Green, and his longtime companion, Carol Crawford.
Willie Jr. received his education in the public schools of Pensacola, Florida. As a youth in Bucksport, he was affectionately known as Pumpkin. As a teenager in Pensacola, FL, he was called Green Pea. Upon returning to Bucksport, he was fondly referred to as Potential by the younger men. He grew up in Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and, as an adult, rededicated his life to Christ, rejoining the church. Willie Jr. believed God was his personal savior, and even when he was unable to speak, he used his eyes and a firm squeeze of his hand to communicate his love for God and his faith. Willie Jr. was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends and telling funny jokes.
Willie Jr. spent many years working in the kitchen at Billy the Kid's Seafood and Steakhouse restaurant in Little River, SC until his retirement.
